Victoria (Tory) Bredt
Senior Strategy and Portfolio Director
Victoria "Tory” joined the Fund for Public Schools in 2023 as the Senior Strategy and Portfolio Director. In her role, she is responsible for managing all aspects of the grant development process-- including establishing and managing relationships with funders, working with NYC Public Schools’ teams to refine and polish project proposals and budgets, managing and tracking progress toward expected outcomes, and communicating with funders and external partners. Tory also manages strategic special projects to support the vision and goals of the Fund overall.
Tory brings over a decade of experience working in NYC Public Schools’ central offices. She began her career in education as a founding elementary school teacher at Leadership Prep Brownsville, part of the Uncommon Schools charter network in Brooklyn, New York, and transitioned to the district to support teacher observation and evaluation citywide.
Tory is originally from Northeast Ohio and earned her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in Urban and Regional Studies. After college, she joined Teach for America and received her Master’s in Education from Hunter College. She received her Master’s in Public Education Management at Yale University through the Broad Center.
